The postpartum period is such an amazing time of bonding, snuggling, and getting to know your little one. It can also be tough!
Toss in the sleep deprivation and it’s a whole other ballgame. You may be reading this while scrolling at 3am during your fifth nursing sesh of the night, or struggling to get your overtired babe to nap, or just want to stop the second-guessing about your sleep routine.
I used to think that sleep in the newborn period was just the Wild Wild West- nothing you could do but hang on tight and hope you get through it. But after experiencing setting a great sleep foundation with my own children and clients as newborns, I’ve realized that it doesn’t have to feel that way. Sure, you may not get 12 hours of beauty sleep (who’s expecting that?), but in this new stage, there are many simple, gentle things we can do to get off on the right foot while still prioritizing bonding, being flexible, and attentive and responsive to your sweet baby’s needs. It doesn’t have to feel overwhelming for you, either!
So many of us are missing the “village” that generations past had, and so sometimes a little extra support is just what we need to feel more confident and peaceful in our parenthood journeys.
